Q4: A farmer rents a piece of land to cultivate it and pays a known monetary rent to the owner. Who is responsible for the zakah on the agricultural crops that come out of the land?
Vol. 4: The zakah on grains and fruits that come out of the ground is upon the farmer, even if the land is rented. And upon the one who rents out the land is the zakah on the money he takes as rent, if it reaches the nisab and a lunar year has passed over it from the date of the lease contract. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
