Consoling a Close Disbeliever
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question from Fatwa No. ( 1988 )
Q5: Is it permissible for a Muslim to console a disbeliever if he is his father or mother, or one of his relatives, if he fears that if he dies and does not go to them, they will harm him, or if it will be a cause for them to be driven away from Islam, or not?
A5: If his intention in consoling them is to encourage them to embrace Islam, then it is permissible, and this is among the objectives of the Shari'ah. Likewise, if doing so repels their harm from him, or from the Muslims; because the general Islamic interests tolerate partial harms. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
