Supplication for the Deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of the fatwa number ( 2392 )
Q6: In what state should one supplicate for the deceased after his burial and the leveling of the soil, sitting or standing? And which is better?
A6: It is the Sunnah for one who wishes to supplicate for the deceased after his burial and the leveling of the soil to do so while standing. The basis for this is what Abu Dawud narrated through his chain from Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
when the Prophet finished the burial of the dead he stood over it and said, “Ask forgiveness for your brother, then ask that he may be strengthened, for he is now being questioned."كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا فرغ من دفن الميت وقف عليه فقال: استغفروا لأخيكم واسألوا له التثبيت، فإنه الآن يسأل
Mishkat al-Masabih 133Isnād Hasan (Zubair `Aliza'i)
And Abu Dawud and al-Mundhiri remained silent about it, and al-Hakim also narrated it and graded it authentic, and al-Bazzar said: It is not narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) except from this route. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
