Supplication for the Deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 20845 )
Q 5: Your Eminence, is it prescribed to make the following supplication for the deceased after eating the charity: “We dedicate the reward of the charity to him, O Allah, convey to him the reward of the charity”? Is this supplication prescribed or not?
Vol. 5: The Sunnah: The person who benefits from the charity should make du'a for the deceased, asking for forgiveness and saying, "May Allah reward him with good," as narrated by Usamah ibn Zayd who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever some good was done to him, and he says: 'May Allah reward you in goodness' then he has done the most that he can of praise.من صنع إليه معروف فقال لفاعله: جزاك الله خيرًا، فقد أبلغ في الثناء
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2035Hasan (Darussalam)
It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi , and al-Tirmidhi said: This
a good, sound, and unique hadith. As for the one who is given charity saying after eating it, or the one who gave charity on behalf of the deceased saying after his charity has been eaten: “We have dedicated the reward of the charity to the deceased,” or “O Allah, convey to him the reward of the charity,” it is better to leave that off, and intending it in the heart is sufficient instead of uttering it; because saying what is mentioned falls under teaching Allah about His religion by giving that charity and dedicating its reward, and Allah the Exalted said:
Say, "Would you acquaint Allah with your religionقُلْ أَتُعَلِّمُونَ اللَّهَ بِدِينِكُمْ
[Al-Hujurat 49:16]
So Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) encompasses everything, nothing is hidden from Him, He knows the intentions and purposes of the servants, and He rewards them accordingly. Allah the Exalted said:
but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for youوَإِنْ تُخْفُوهَا وَتُؤْتُوهَا الْفُقَرَاءَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ
[Al-Baqarah 2:271]
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
