Domes over graves

The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 8263 )
Q4: Some people argue that the construction of the Green Dome over the Noble Grave in the Prophet's Mosque proves the permissibility of building domes over other graves, such as those of the righteous and others. Is this argument valid, or what is the ruling?
What is the response to them?
A4: It is not valid to argue that the people's construction of a dome over the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) proves the permissibility of building domes over the graves of the dead, whether they are righteous or not. This is because the construction of that dome by those people over his grave (peace and blessings be upon him) is forbidden, and its doer commits a sin, as it contradicts what is established from Abu al-Hayyaj al-Asadi who said: (He said to me, 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): , and from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: Bulugh al-Maram 579 . Both were narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. Therefore, it is not valid for anyone to argue with the forbidden action of some people for the permissibility of a similar forbidden act. This is because it is not permissible to oppose the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with the saying or action of any person. He is the one who conveys the message from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and obedience to Him is obligatory, and one must beware of disobeying His command. This is based on the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic): [Al-Hashr 59:7] , and other verses commanding obedience to Allah and obedience to His Messenger. Also, because building over graves and erecting domes on them is among the means to associating partners with Allah with their inhabitants, it is necessary to block the means leading to shirk.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
