The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 5519 )
Q5: When a person says the salam in prayer, does he intend the salam to be directed to the angels present in the mosque, or to the angels assigned to the son of Adam, or what is the intention behind it?
A5: The original ruling in this matter is that it is prescribed to conclude the prayer and to exit from it, as in the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sunan Abi Dawud 61Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani) It was narrated by the people of the Sunan. Along with that, the intention is to greet his fellow praying brothers to his right and left; because it is authentically established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what indicates this. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
