Delaying the completion of the Qur'an recitation to Friday
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q 6: If a person is consistent in reciting the Qur'an, with the help of Allah, and praise is due to Him, and he mostly completes a recitation every week or two weeks. The point is that if he finishes the Qur'an on a Tuesday or Wednesday and stops at the Mu'awwidhat (the last two chapters), and then starts with al-Fatihah and al-Baqarah, when Friday night arrives after the Maghrib prayer, he starts from the Mu'awwidhat from where he stopped, completes the recitation, and reads the completion supplication between the two nights of Thursday and Friday, hoping that, if Allah wills, by His mercy, the angels' prayer will last until morning, as mentioned in the hadith. If he reads the completion supplication, he starts reading from where he stopped in the Qur'an. The point is, is delaying the completion of the recitation to Thursday and Friday an innovation, such that his intention and effort do not benefit him? And if he completes the recitation, should he read the completion supplication immediately upon completing it, on whatever day that is, except that the beginning of the day and the beginning of the night are better? Which is better: if he completes the recitation, should he read the completion supplication at that moment on that day, or should he delay the completion supplication to Friday as I mentioned? Please inform us.
with the best, may Allah reward you with good in this world and the Hereafter.
A 6 : It is the Sunnah for him to complete the recitation of the Qur'an and not postpone reading the Mu'awwidhat to Friday or any other day. Rather, he should finish the recitation until he reaches the Mu'awwidhat, then make supplication with the supplications contained therein, after praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), following the example of the righteous predecessors. Then he returns and starts the next recitation with al-Fatihah, and so on.
