The questioner : This is a message from Libya from some sisters who say, "We are your sisters in Allah from Libya. We have some issues. The first question is: We sometimes complete the recitation of the Qur'an collectively, where each of us reads a portion or more in her home, so we complete it in one night. Is what we are doing correct?"

The Shaykh : Gathering to complete the recitation of the Qur'an in the home has a basis in the practice of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). It is narrated from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when he completed the recitation of the Qur'an, he would gather his family and make supplication. If you do that, I hope there is no blame on you. However, if you leave it, that is safer and further from the occurrence of religious innovation, because this matter may develop and lead to things that we cannot say are from the practice of the Companions. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
