The Excuse in Prostration

Fatwa No. ( 3956 )
Q: I am a man who suffered from an eye disease and underwent surgery. This was a full year ago, and I still suffer from severe fatigue when performing the prayer. When I prostrate, I cannot prostrate on the ground unless there is a cushion or something else to raise my head from the hardness. Is this permissible when I prostrate, placing a cushion or something else? Please inform me, may Allah reward you with the best reward.
A:If the situation is as you described, there is no blame on you for leaving off the prostration, and there is no need to place a pillow or the like to prostrate on; for that is not permissible. The Muslim should pray according to his condition. Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a sick man who prayed on a pillow, throwing it away, and said:Jabir(may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a sick man who prayed on a pillow, throwing it away, and said:Bulugh al-Maram 2:358 It was narrated byal-Bayhaqiwith a strong chain, but Abu HatimAbu Hatimverified its status as a mawquf. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Pray on the ground, if you can, or else pray by gestures and make your prostration lower than your bowing.
