Patience in the Face of Calamity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The eighth question of Fatwa No. ( 6365 )
Q8: I feel a lack of humility in my heart and a lack of tasting the sweetness of faith, and this may occur when calamities and misfortunes befall me. What is the solution to this? May Allah reward you with good.
A: It is obligatory for the Muslim to hold fast to Allah and rely upon Him in seeking what benefits him and repelling what harms him.
If a trial befalls him or a calamity strikes him, let him be patient and seek reward from Allah for it, and let him know that it is by the divine decree and destiny of Allah. Let him ask Allah to remove the harm he is suffering and to replace it with something better than what he has suffered. Let him accustom his tongue to what Allah has prescribed in His saying:
but give good tidings to the patient, (156) Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."
[Al-Baqarah 2:155-156]
Let him increase in acts of obedience and avoid what is forbidden. In doing so, he will find the sweetness of faith, if Allah wills. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
