The Prayer of the Unconscious Person and the Sick Person Who Leaves Off the Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 2259 )
Q: My father, who is ninety-two years old, was hit by a car on his leg and was admitted to the hospital. For seventeen days he did not pray. When he regained consciousness, he asked and wanted to make up the missed prayers. Please advise us.
A: If his mind was with him during the period he left off the prayer, he must make up the missed prayers according to his ability, standing, sitting, on his side, or lying down, arranging them by intention
and action. He prays the prayers of the first day he missed in their proper order, starting with the first obligatory prayer he left off, then the one after it, and so on, then the second day, then the third, until they are all completed. However, if his mind was disturbed at that time, he owes no make-up. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
