The first question of Fatwa No. ( 7269 )
Q1: A person had to make up the Maghrib prayer but forgot it and prayed 'Isha'. After praying 'Isha, he remembered that he had not prayed the makeup prayer he owed. Is his prayer valid or invalid, or what must he do?
A1: His 'Isha prayer is valid according to the correct opinion of the scholars, and he is not sinful; because he is excused by forgetfulness; due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:286] and the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that He said: narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
