Image-making of everything that has a soul

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 1953 ):
Q: I am the principal of an elementary school in southern Shamran , and I have been tasked by my authority to take pictures of the students during the school trip and scouting activities
and pictures of some areas to be displayed in the school. As we have learned and heard, angels do not enter a house that contains a picture. Since the picture is in the house, and I am in this job tasked with it, and I task others to make the pictures and give them the cost of those pictures from the money I receive from my authority, and I do not take the pictures myself, on whom does the sin fall?

A: There is no doubt that image-making of everything that has a soul is forbidden, indeed it is one of the major sins; because of the severe warning that has come regarding it in the texts of the Sunnah, and because it involves imitating Allah in His creation of the living, and because it is a means to fitnah and a path to shirk (associating partners with Allah) in many circumstances. The sin encompasses the one who directly engages in image-making, the one who tasks him with it, and everyone who assists him in it or causes it; because they are cooperating in sin. And Allah has forbidden that by His saying:
but do not cooperate in sin and aggressionوَلاَ تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
