Reciting the Surahs in the Order of the Uthmanic Mushaf
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 4909 ):
Q1: Is it valid to recite the surahs in the reverse order of how they are written in the Qur'an, such as reciting Surat al-Falaq before Surat al-Nas, and the like?
A1: It is preferable to recite the surahs in the order of the Uthmanic Mushaf, starting with al-Fatihah, then al-Baqarah, then Aal 'Imran, until one finishes with Surat al-Nas. By this, it is known that reciting al-Falaq followed by al-Nas is in the order of the Uthmanic Mushaf, not the reverse. However, there is no harm in starting with al-Nas, then al-Falaq, then al-Ikhlas, and so on, for the purpose of learning. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
