Whispers of the Self
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 7349 ):
Q1: I am a young man of nineteen years old, praise be to Allah. I perform all the prayers in congregation at the mosque, including the Fajr prayer, and sometimes I give the adhan at the mosque. I have memorized about six parts of the Qur'an. However, there is something that bothers me: when I am alone with myself, that is,
I sit in the room by myself, or when I sleep, I imagine or picture, may Allah protect us, that I have traveled to London and that I committed zina and kept company with bad women. Is there any sin on me for that? Even though it does not affect me, as I only engage in the secret habit rarely, I am afraid that the hadith applies to me, which means: whoever his prayer does not restrain him from indecency and evil, Allah will distance him further.
A1: First: Whispers and the thoughts of the heart mentioned here do not hold the Muslim accountable; for it is established that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 3435Sahih (Darussalam) . Second: Masturbation by hand, known as the secret habit, is forbidden. Third: The hadith you mentioned is weak, but its meaning is well known from a group of the Companions and the Tabi'un (may Allah be pleased with them). We hope that the whispers do not occupy you as long as you are staying away from sins. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Allah, the Most High, has forgiven my Ummah for whatever enters the mind, so long as it is not spoken of or put into action.
