The Nullifiers of Islam

Fatwa No. ( 3782 ):

Q: After establishing the rules of the five mentioned in the hadith , is there anything that constitutes disbelief after shirk (associating partners with Allah) and others, or not?
A: Islam: is to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish the prayer, to give zakah, to fast Ramadan, and to perform Hajj to the House if you are able to find a way to it. And faith: is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and the divine decree, its good and its evil. And excellence in worship: is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then He sees you. Islam is the outward deeds, and faith: is the inward deeds
and the two are concomitant, so Islam is not valid without faith, and faith is not valid without Islam. As for the things that cause one to be declared a disbeliever, they are many, and they are called: the nullifiers of Islam. The greatest of them is shirk (associating partners with Allah); such as calling upon the dead, seeking aid from them, and calling upon idols, trees, and stars, and the like; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he was asked:
Which sin is the most serious?” He replied, attribute a partner to Allah, though He Alone has created you.أي الذنب أعظم؟ قال: أن تجعل لله ندًّا وهو خلقك
Bulugh al-Maram 16:23
The hadith is agreed upon as authentic. And among them is cursing Allah and His Messenger and mocking the religion. And among them is denying what is known from the religion by necessity to be obligatory, such as prayer and zakah, and denying what is known from the religion by necessity to be forbidden; such as zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) and theft. The Shaykh of Islam Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him) drew attention to ten of them, found in [Majmu'at al-Tawhid] p. 271, and printed separately. If you wish to expand your knowledge of that, refer to the chapter on the ruling of the apostate in the books of Islamic jurisprudence. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
