The sixth question of the fatwa number ( 9406 ):
Q6: Is it permissible to sit in the places where philosophy, logic, and theories that mock the verses of Allah are studied , and does this fall under the noble verse:
And it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them
A6: If he is a scholar and confident in himself, not fearing fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) in his religion from reading them or from sitting with their people, and his intention in reading them is to refute the falsehood therein — in support of the truth — then it is permissible for him to study them for that purpose. Otherwise, it is forbidden for him to study them and to mix with their people; in order to avoid falsehood and its people, and to guard against fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
