Ruqyah for the sick by reciting the Qur'an, dhikr, and the Prophetic supplications

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 6773 ):
Q: In the country where I live, there are many shaykhs. When someone falls ill, they take them to these shaykhs, who recite verses over them and say, "Bring a ram, a bull, a camel, or other livestock." People in the Sunnah pay a lot of money and go to them. Is this something forbidden in our religion?
A: Ruqyah for the sick by reciting the Qur'an, dhikr, and the established Prophetic supplications (peace and blessings be upon him) is prescribed. However, going to the people you mentioned to have verses recited over them and being ordered to slaughter a ram or a bull, for example, is not permissible. This is because it is an innovative form of ruqyah and consuming wealth unjustly. It may also be shirk (associating partners with Allah) if what is mentioned is slaughtered for the jinn or the dead, or the like, to ward off harm or seek benefit from them. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
