Reciting the Qur'an for the Sick
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 4086 ):
Q4: Is it permissible to recite the Qur'an for a sick person for the sake of Allah the Exalted, or for a fee?
A4: If the intention is to perform ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation) for the sick person with the Qur'an, that is permissible, indeed recommended; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 2199e , and based on his doing so and the doing so of his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). It is better to do so without a fee, but if it is done for a fee, it is permissible; because the Sunnah has established the permissibility of that. If the intention is to dedicate the reward to the sick person, that should not be done; because it has not come in the pure Shari'ah. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Sahih Muslim 1718a Agreed upon as authentic. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
