Questions one, two, and three from Fatwa number ( 2747 ):
Q1: The birth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) falls on the eleventh day of Rabi' al-Awwal here with us. The scholars hold a celebration for the birth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), gathering the Muslims and doing things to celebrate the day of the Prophet's birth (peace and blessings be upon him). However, some scholars say: there is no good in that. Therefore, I want to ask: what is the ruling on that? And do you do anything of that sort? Q2: About the celebration of the Prophet's birth (peace and blessings be upon him) in that month?
Vol. 1, 2: Holding the celebration of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) birthday is among the matters of religious innovation. It is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 1718a , and in another narration: Sahih Muslim 1718b . The Messenger did not do this, nor did he order it, nor did anyone do it and he remain silent about it, nor did his successors after him do it, and so did the Salaf of the Ummah in the three
best centuries; they did not do it. Then the holding of it was innovated. His Eminence the Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz wrote a long answer regarding this.
