Reciting certain specific verses after the Friday prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

The first question of Fatwa number ( 9953 ):

Q1: People recite certain verses every week after Friday prayer. Is this permissible or not? I say those verses are:

A1: It is prescribed for the Muslim to supplicate and humble himself to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) at all times and in all circumstances. Allah the Exalted said:
And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you."وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
[Ghafir 40:60]
, and He said:
And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Meوَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:186]
, and in the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Supplication is worshipالدعاء هو العبادة
, but reciting that poetry after Friday prayer and making it a regular practice is not prescribed; rather, it is one of the forbidden innovations. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718a
. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
