The ruling on making du'a' for the deceased before moving the body, after the funeral prayer, and after burial

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of fatwa number ( 7136 ):
Q2: When a person dies, special care is taken to wash the deceased. Before the body is taken to the grave, people make du'a' for the deceased. At the grave, the funeral prayer is performed. When the prayer is completed, people make du'a' for the deceased again, and the body is placed in the grave. When the earth is heaped over the grave and it is completely covered, water is sprinkled on it, and a surah from the Qur'an is recited over it, and then people make du'a' for the deceased a third time at the end?
Part 2: Making du'a' for the deceased while he is being washed, or while he is being shrouded, or in other
such circumstances is permissible; because du'a' benefits the deceased. However, if it is done collectively or with raised hands, it is a religious innovation for which we know no evidence in the pure Shari'ah. As for making du'a' for him after burial, whether by individuals or a group, it is prescribed; for it is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he finished burying the deceased, would stand over his grave and say:
Seek forgiveness for your brother, and beg steadfastness for him, for he will be questioned now.استغفروا لأخيكم واسألوا له التثبيت، فإنه الآن يسأل
Sunan Abi Dawud 3221Sahih (Al-Albani)
. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
