The dead do not hear the calls of the living from among the children of Adam, nor their supplications

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q2: Does the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) hear every supplication and call at his noble grave, or specific prayers when people pray upon him, as in the hadith: "Whoever prays upon me at my grave, I hear him," to the end of the hadith? Is this hadith authentic, weak, or fabricated regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?
A2: The principle is that the dead, in general, do not hear the calls of the living from among the children of Adam, nor their supplications, as Allah the Exalted said:
but you cannot make hear those in the graves.وَمَا أَنْتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُورِ
[Fatir 35:22]
And it is not established in the Book or in the authentic Sunnah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) hears every supplication or call from humans, such that this would be a special privilege for him. Rather, it is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that the prayer and peace of those who pray and send peace upon him reaches him, whether the one praying upon him is at his grave or far from it; both are the same in this regard. This is based on what is established from 'Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with them)
He saw a man coming to a gap at the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), entering it and making supplication, so he forbade him and said: "Shall I not inform you of a hadith I heard from my father from my grandfather from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: Do not take my grave as a festival, nor your houses as graves. Pray upon me, for your peace reaches me wherever you are."
.
As for the hadith:
If anyone invokes a blessing on me at my grave I shall hear him, and if anyone invokes a blessing on me at a distance I shall have it conveyed to me.من صلى علي عند قبري سمعته، ومن صلى علي بعيدًا بلغته
Mishkat al-Masabih 934
it is a weak hadith according to the scholars. As for what Abu Dawud narrated with a good chain from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If any one of you greets me, Allah returns my soul to me and I respond to the greeting.ما من أحد يسلم علي إلاَّ رد الله علي روحي حتى أرد عليه السلام
Sunan Abi Dawud 2041Hasan (Al-Albani)
it is not explicit that he hears the peace of the Muslim. Rather, it is possible that he responds to it when the angels convey it to him. And even if we assume he hears the peace of the Muslim, it does not necessarily follow that other supplications and calls reach him.
