Describing Allah with the attribute of the Deliberating Intellect
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 3207 ):
Q1: Does one who describes Allah the Exalted with the attribute of the Deliberating Intellect to make it easier for the common people to understand become a disbeliever or not?
A1: If the situation is as mentioned, where one describes Allah with the attribute of the Deliberating Intellect to make it easier for the common people to understand, then he has erred in attributing that to Allah the Exalted; because the names and attributes of Allah are based on what has been transmitted, and Allah has not named Himself or described Himself with that name or attribute, nor has the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) attributed it to Him. However, he does not become a disbeliever due to his lack of bad intent. It is sufficient for him in clarifying matters for the common people and others to describe Him the Exalted with perfect knowledge, His encompassing awareness, and His supreme wisdom in His estimation and management of His legislation, creation, and administration of all the affairs of His servants. That suffices him from naming or describing Him with what He has not named or described Himself with, in addition to the fact that attributing the Deliberating Intellect to Him the Exalted resembles the philosophers in their statement about the ten intellects. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
