Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: “On the Day you will turn away, fleeing” from the place of reckoning to the Fire. “You have no protector” from Allah, meaning from His punishment, “who can save you”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Then He clarified that by saying: "
The Day you will turn your backs fleeing يوم تولون مدبرين
[Ghafir 40:33]
from the place of reckoning to the Fire
there is not for you from Allah ما لكم من الله
[Ghafir 40:33]
meaning: from His punishment
who can save you من عاصم
who can prevent it
And whomever Allah leaves astray - there will be for him no guide. ومن يضلل الله فما له من هاد
[Ar-Ra'd 13:33]
"
He described this Day with descriptions:
First: that it is the Day of Calling, where people call out to one another, and Allah the Exalted also calls out to them, and they call out to one another with calls, some of which may be unknown to us now.
The second description:
The Day you will turn your backs fleeing يوم تولون مدبرين
[Ghafir 40:33]
, the word “Day” here is a substitute for his saying:
the Day of Calling يوم التناد
or an explanatory apposition.
The Day you will turn your backs fleeing يوم تولون مدبرين
[Ghafir 40:33]
“fleeing”: this is a state (hal), a state that confirms its verb or its subject? It confirms its verb, because turning away is fleeing. Accordingly, it is a state that confirms its verb, meaning: you will turn away on the Day of Resurrection in the state of being fleeing. They turn away to what? To the Fire, may Allah protect us.
(85) On the Day We will gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as a delegation (86) And will drive the criminals to Hell in thirst يوم نحشر المتقين إلى الرحمن وفدا ونسوق المجرمين إلى جهنم وردا
[Maryam 19:85-86]
So, may Allah protect us, they turn away, fleeing.
He said:
there is not for you from Allah any protector ما لكم من الله من عاصم
[Ghafir 40:33]
This sentence is a declarative sentence beginning with the negative particle “ma,” and the subject in it is his saying:
who can save you من عاصم
but the particle “min” entered it as an extra.
