The Qur'an is the Speech of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 4106 ):
Q: I heard from the imam of one of the mosques a hadith in this month about the virtue of the Qur'an, and among the things he said was the statement: "The Qur'an is the creation of Allah." This is what the Shaykh said. Through my study of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) in the school stages, I learned that the Mu'tazilah are the ones who said that the Qur'an is created, and that the people of the Sunnah and the community refuted and disproved their argument, since the position of the people of the Sunnah and the community regarding the Qur'an is that it is not created, but rather it is the speech of the Exalted, truly, which He sent down from Himself to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). So I do not know if the Shaykh had another intention he was aiming for when he made his statement, or what? What is your opinion regarding that statement made by the imam of that mosque? I hope you will clarify that?
A: If the reality is as you described, that you believe the Qur'an is the speech of Allah, that He spoke it truly and sent it down upon His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and that the imam of the mosque said: "The Qur'an is the creation of Allah," then your belief regarding the speech of Allah is valid and it is in accordance with what was said by the people of the Sunnah and the community . As for the statement of the imam of the mosque: "The Qur'an is the creation of Allah," it is incorrect; because it contradicts the texts of the Book and the Sunnah and the method of the Salaf (the earliest generations) in understanding them. Perhaps you should contact him and alert him, as it may be that
it was a verbal error on his part that he did not intend, so he would correct his statement and amend his wording. If it becomes clear through your conversation with him that he believes the Qur'an is created and he persists in that, then guide him to the truth if you can, or else give him the book [Al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah] by the Shaykh of Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him), and the book [Al-Tamimiyyah] by him as well, and the book [Sharh al-Tahawiyyah] by the Shaykh Ibn Abi al-'Izz (may Allah have mercy on him), or guide him to them so he can read them and learn the correct creed from them. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
