The Friends of the Most Merciful and the Friends of Satan

Fatwa No. ( 2161 ):
Q: We have a group of Dervishes, and among them is a man from our relatives who drank a sip of water from the master of this method. He is an uneducated man with no skill or knowledge that would allow him to display magic and sorcery before people. Yet he strikes his belly with every harmful weapon, such as a dagger, a sword, a wooden plank, and a bullet, etc. He does not adhere to Islam and does not perform the obligatory duties that our Lord, Glorified and Exalted, has made obligatory, such as prayer, fasting, and others. We ask you to kindly explain the Islamic view on this, and what is the secret behind the striking? We request a written answer as he is present in our country and in other Arab and Islamic countries.
A: Allah closed the messengers with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) by explicit text and scholarly consensus; for Allah the Exalted said:
Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets
مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَof the Most Merciful, and the awliya of Satan. Allah, Glorified and Exalted, has clarified in His Book and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that Allah has awliya among people, and Satan has awliya, so He distinguished between the awliya of the Most Merciful and the awliya of Satan. He said, the Exalted:
(62) Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve (63) Those who believed and were fearing Allah (64) For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in the Hereafter. No change is there in the words of Allah. That is what is the great attainment.
Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light. And those who disbelieve - their allies are Taghut. They take them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein.
Allah says: Whoever opposes My wali, I have declared war upon him.
(98) So when you recite the Qur'an, [first] seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy]. (99) Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord. (100) His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allah.
And whoever takes Satan as an ally instead of Allah has certainly sustained a clear loss.
And He said, the Exalted:
Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe. (28) And when they commit an immorality, they say, "We found our fathers
Indeed, they had taken the devils as allies instead of Allah while they thought that they were guided.
And indeed do the devils inspire their allies [among men] to dispute with you. And if you were to obey them, indeed, you would be associators [of others with Him].
O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]."
O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies, extending to them affection
Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise."
The family of so-and-so are not my awliya—meaning: a group of his relatives—my wali is only Allah and the righteous believers.
إن آل أبي فلان ليسوا لي بأولياء - يعني: طائفة من أقاربه - إنما وليي الله وصالح المؤمنينare the believers who are mindful of Allah, as He said, the Exalted:
(62) Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve (63) Those who believed and were fearing Allah
