Going to fortune-tellers to find out who the thief is
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question 30 from Fatwa No. ( 6505 ):
Q30: Sometimes we lose some money or gold from the house and we believe it was stolen, so we go to a certain person known as a "mukhbir" (informant). We explain the situation to him and he promises us good, and sometimes the lost item is recovered and sometimes it is not. What is the ruling on our going to these people?
A30: It is not permissible for you to go to him; because he is a fortune-teller, and it is authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the prohibition of going to fortune-tellers and the like, asking them, and believing them. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
