Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: From: A. A. M. - He says: Is it permissible to visit fortune-tellers, diviners, and sorcerers, to ask them questions, and to seek treatment from them with oil or the like?
A: It is not permissible to visit diviners, sorcerers, astrologers, fortune-tellers, or the like, nor is it permissible to ask them questions or believe them, nor is it permissible to seek treatment from them with oil or anything else; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited visiting them, asking them questions, and believing them; because they claim knowledge of the unseen, they lie to people, and they invite them to causes of deviation from the creed.
It is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 2230 Al-Muslim reported it in his Sahih, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever visits a diviner or a fortune-teller and believes in what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him),” and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: And there are many hadiths in this meaning.
In what Allah has permitted of treatment by lawful ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation) and permissible medicines from those known for good creed and conduct, there is sufficient, and praise be to Allah.
And success is from Allah.
