Going to sorcerers and magicians for the treatment of diseases
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 10672 ):
Q2: I am a Muslim. I was ill and went to a sorcerer who explained to me the causes of my illness. He told me: “I will cure you of this ailment on the condition that you slaughter an animal or mix wine with a tree branch, otherwise you will die.” I am sick and my condition has become severe, so what should I do?
A2: First: If the matter is as you described, it is forbidden to go to sorcerers and magicians who claim to know diseases and their causes through unusual means; because what he ordered you to do, which is slaughtering for other than Allah, is major shirk (associating partners with Allah), and treatment with wine is forbidden; because Allah has not made the healing of the Ummah (Muslim community) in what He has forbidden for them. Second: It is prescribed for you to seek treatment through lawful supplications and permissible medicines that have no harm. May Allah cure you of your illness and protect you from all evil. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
