The Status of the Prophet 'Isa (peace be upon him) According to the Book and the Sunnah

Fatwa No. ( 2190 ):
Q: We have received news that a translation of the Noble Qur'an by Muhammad Asad in Ireland ( Dublin ) will be printed soon, and it will be published here. A committee has been formed to publish this translation, including Muslim professors from India , and Muhammad Asad claims in his translation: that the Prophet of Allah 'Isa (peace be upon him) died,
and that the Muslims' belief in his return is an error. In light of this claim, I present to you the following questions: 1 - What is the status of the Prophet 'Isa (peace be upon him) according to the established Book and the Noble Sunnah?

A: Allah the Exalted created His Prophet 'Isa (peace be upon him) from a mother and without a father, as He the Exalted said:
And mention in the Book Maryam, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the east (16) and took for herself a screen from them, so We sent to her Our Spirit, and he appeared to her as a well-proportioned man (17) She said: "Indeed, I take refuge in the Most Merciful from you, if you should be pious." (18) He said: "Only I am the messenger of your Lord to give you [a] pure boy." (19) She said: "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been a prostitute?" (20) He said: "Thus [it will be]. Your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it was a matter [already] decided.'" (21) So she became pregnant with him, so she withdrew with him to a distant place (22) And the pains of childbirth compelled her to lean against the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and become a forgotten thing!" (23) But he called to her from beneath her, [saying], "Do not grieve. Indeed, your Lord has made beneath you a stream (24) And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; fresh, ripe dates will fall upon you (25) So eat and drink and be comforted. And if you see anyone from among the people, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful [to observe] fast, so I will not speak today [to] any man.'" (26) Then she came to her people carrying himوَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَرْيَمَ إِذِ انْتَبَذَتْ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا مَكَانًا شَرْقِيًّا (16) فَاتَّخَذَتْ مِنْ دُونِهِمْ حِجَابًا فَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرًا سَوِيًّا (17) قَالَتْ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِالرَّحْمَنِ مِنْكَ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَقِيًّا (18) قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَنَا رَسُولُ رَبِّكِ لأَهَبَ لَكِ غُلامًا زَكِيًّا (19) قَالَتْ أَنَّى يَكُونُ لِي غُلامٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِي بَشَرٌ وَلَمْ أَكُ بَغِيًّا (20) قَالَ كَذَلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ وَلِنَجْعَلَهُ آيَةً لِلنَّاسِ وَرَحْمَةً مِنَّا وَكَانَ أَمْرًا مَقْضِيًّا (21) فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَانْتَبَذَتْ بِهِ مَكَانًا قَصِيًّا (22) فَأَجَاءَهَا الْمَخَاضُ إِلَى جِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَا لَيْتَنِي مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَذَا وَكُنْتُ نَسْيًا مَنْسِيًّا (23) فَنَادَاهَا مِنْ تَحْتِهَا أَلا تَحْزَنِي قَدْ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحْتَكِ سَرِيًّا (24) وَهُزِّي إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ تُسَاقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَبًا جَنِيًّا (25) فَكُلِي وَاشْرَبِي وَقَرِّي عَيْنًا فَإِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ الْبَشَرِ أَحَدًا فَقُولِي إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمَنِ صَوْمًا فَلَنْ أُكَلِّمَ الْيَوْمَ إِنْسِيًّا (26) فَأَتَتْ بِهِ قَوْمَهَا تَحْمِلُهُ
. This indicates that he was from his mother Maryam only, by the permission of Allah and His word, and not from a father, to be a sign for the people. Nevertheless, the Jews accused her of having brought him forth from
adultery, so Allah the Exalted made his son 'Isa speak while he was in the cradle to clear her of the charge. He the Exalted said:
(27) Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented. (28) O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste." (29) So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?" (30) [Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. (31) And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive (32) And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. (33) And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive." (34) That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute. (35) It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.
[Maryam 19:27-35]
. Thus, Allah cleared him by this prophetic miracle of having a father from adultery, and He (Glorified and Exalted is He) exalted Himself from having a son. Therefore, 'Isa is not the son of Allah. Maryam informed about herself that no human touched her, and Allah confirmed her in that. He (Glorified and Exalted is He) attributed him to his mother in more than one place in the Qur'an, and if he had been from a father, He would have attributed him to his father, as is His (the Exalted's) custom in His speech. This indicates that he was from a mother only, and he is the Prophet of Allah and His Messenger, as indicated by the previous verses and others.
