The claim that Mary, the daughter of 'Imran, married after giving birth to 'Isa (peace be upon him)

Fatwa number ( 7647 ):

Q: I was once speaking with a man of Egyptian nationality who works as a doctor in Britain , and during that conversation he mentioned to me that Mary, the daughter of 'Imran , after she gave birth to her son 'Isa (peace be upon him), married a man whose name I cannot recall now, and that she bore two children from him. Is this true or not? If it is true, what is the evidence from the Noble Qur'an or from the Sunnah or otherwise? The man who mentioned this to me was unable to cite any evidence, and I likewise cannot recall what I heard unless I am provided with something from the Qur'an or the Sunnah. I ask you to provide me with some of that. May Allah preserve you as a treasure for us?
A: It is not mentioned in the Book of Allah the Exalted, nor is it established in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that Mary, the daughter of 'Imran , married after she gave birth to 'Isa (peace be upon him), nor that she bore any children other than 'Isa (peace be upon him).
As for before 'Isa (peace be upon him), it is established that no human touched her, and she was not a fornicator. Allah the Exalted said:
(16) And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east. (17) And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man. (18) She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah." (19) He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy." (20) She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?"
[Maryam 19:16-20]
, and Allah the Exalted affirmed her statement and verified her truthfulness in it. Thus, it becomes clear that what is said about Mary, the daughter of 'Imran , having married or given birth to anyone other than 'Isa (peace and blessings be upon him) has no basis. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
