The questioner : He says: I performed 'Umrah in Ramadan and left off the farewell tawaf. Is there anything required of me, knowing that I was aware of your fatwa but I was lax due to the fatwa of some scholars and the insistence of my companions to hasten? What is required of me now?
The Shaykh : As for a person who performed tawaf, sa'y, and shortened his hair for 'Umrah and then left, he owes nothing, because his first tawaf was upon his departure. As for if he remained, even for a short time, then he has to perform the farewell tawaf. This man says that he heard our fatwa and heard the fatwa of others. If, when he left off the farewell tawaf, he was hesitating whether it was obligatory or not, based on the difference in fatwas, then he owes nothing. But if he believed it was obligatory but was negligent, the precaution is that he slaughter a fidyah in Makkah to be distributed to the poor, either by going to Makkah himself or by appointing someone to do this on his behalf.
The questioner : May Allah reward our honorable Shaykh with the best reward and benefit us with his knowledge, and gather us with you in the abode of His mercy, along with our parents and those who have rights over us. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and Messenger Muhammad.
The Shaykh : Amen. The lesson has ended now. I hope you are hearing well. Praise be to Allah. May Allah bless you. Peace be upon you, in the safety of Allah.
