Farewell Tawaf for 'Umrah Is Not Obligatory

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This sister says to me, “My brother came from Yemen to perform the rites of 'Umrah. He went to Makkah and performed 'Umrah, and then he went to visit the Noble Prophet’s Mosque. When the time for his departure arrived, he returned to the Holy Makkah and performed 'Umrah with a single tawaf, meaning: he did not perform the farewell tawaf because he was unaware of it. He traveled on the same day he performed 'Umrah. What is required of him now that he is in Yemen?”
Answer: 'Umrah does not have a farewell tawaf, and he owes nothing. If he performs a tawaf for farewell, that is better; otherwise, there is nothing obligatory. This is the correct view, and it is the position of the majority of scholars that 'Umrah does not have a farewell tawaf, and that the obligatory farewell tawaf is specifically for Hajj. So, your brother owes nothing, and praise be to Allah. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
