Explanation of the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): (The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not eat his fill of wheat bread for three consecutive days until he departed this world)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the last instance, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I find no room for it, or no space for it, or as he said.
So, in this hadith, there are two matters:
The first is the reason for which the hadith was narrated, and that is: explaining the life and the austerity of living that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was accustomed to. The scholars explain this by saying that it was sometimes because he could not find anything to eat, and they were in straitened circumstances, especially at the beginning of the call, when the Messenger (peace be upon him) and his Companions first migrated to Madinah. With this first explanation, they explain this severe life. And they have another explanation, which is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) preferred the other poor Companions to the food that came to him, so days and nights would pass without anything of it entering his stomach. So, this life was for one of two reasons:
Either the scarcity of good and food at that time, or the preference of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) for his Companions over the food he had.
The other thing that is derived from this hadith is the permissibility that a person sometimes eats his fill, but it is a weaker, less preferred permissibility, as we mentioned earlier.
