The Shaykh : All right, go ahead, my brother, what did you have?
The student : Imam Ahmad said: "Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah informed us, from Abu Ziyad al-Tahhan, who said: I heard Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he saw a man drinking while standing, so he said to him:
Stop it قِه
. He said: Why? He said:
Would you like a cat to drink with you? أيسرُّك أن يشرب معك الهر ؟
. He said: No. He said:
For he has drunk with you one who is worse than it; Satan فإنه قد شرب معك مَن هو شَرٌّ منه ؛ الشيطان
. Ibn Kathir said after narrating this hadith in "Al-Bidaya wa al-Nihaya": "Ahmad transmitted it uniquely from this route." I do not know, Shaykh, the authenticity of the chain?

The Shaykh : What I recall is that I verified this hadith in some of its takhrij, but I do not have at hand, or I do not recall, who Abu Ziyad al-Tahhan is. If you have a reference, you may remind us of it; otherwise, refer to the book "Ta'jil al-Manfa'ah" or the known books of kunyas. As for the hadith itself, I know it to be authentic and from the Musnad of Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him).
The student : Al-Hafiz graded it as good in al-Fath.

The Shaykh : Al-Hafiz graded it as good.
