Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: His EminenceThe Shaykh : Publications have become numerous in circulating such long hadiths and posting them on walls and elsewhere. Here before us is a hadith: the noble hadith that gathered and encompassed. The writer of this long hadith, which is a full page, says: “It was narrated from Khalid ibn al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have come to ask you about what will suffice me in this world and the Hereafter. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Ask whatever you want سَلْ عمَّا بدا لك
Sahih al-Bukhari 63
. He said: I want to be the most knowledgeable of people. He said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Fear Allah, and you will be the most knowledgeable of people اتَّق الله تكُنْ أعلم الناس
. He said: I want to be the wealthiest of people. He said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Be content, and you will be the wealthiest of people كُنْ قانعًا تكُنْ أغنى الناس
. To the end of these narrations. Then he said: ‘Imam al-Mustaghfiri said: I have not seen a hadith greater and more comprehensive regarding the excellences of the religion and more beneficial than this hadith. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated it.’”

The Shaykh : This hadith passed by me, and my answer regarding it is that it is a composite hadith made up of a group of hadiths. Some of them have a basis in some of the authentic hadiths, and some have no basis, and this is the general case with this hadith.
