Continuation of the explanation of the hadith of Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him): “And the first of the people to arrive at it are the poor Muhajireen, with disheveled heads and dirty clothes, who do not marry the well-off women…”

The Shaykh : The point of this hadith is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2444Sahih (Darussalam) His saying: It seems like a natural matter, because it came in some hadiths: “That the people, while they are being reckoned, the poor Muhajireen set out and precede the others in entering Paradise by forty autumns, as will come shortly” So it is very natural that these people are the first to enter Paradise and consequently the first to arrive at the noble Prophetic Pool. Therefore, he said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2444Sahih (Darussalam) These phrases and sentences are an allusion to the fact that these poor people, because of their poverty, do not find what to care for in themselves, from washing to bathing for the slightest occasion, to the least of clothing, white, clean, and new, and so on. So he described their clothes as dirty. It should not be understood from this that Islam commands dirt and filth, but the intention is that they, because of their poverty, were like the people of the Suffah from the first Muhajireen. They lived in hardship. You might find dirty clothes on him because he has no house, no family, no one to serve him, and no one to wash his clothes and his body. For this reason, their clothes were dirty, and their heads were disheveled, meaning: unkempt, not cleaned, not combed, and not groomed.
In addition to that, they do not marry the well-off women, meaning: it is not available for them to marry women who have lived a life of comfort and ease. Perhaps a person, if he controls himself, can be moderate between these poor people with dirty clothes, because they do not find [comfort], and those rich people who expand in eating good foods, drinking beverages, and wearing luxurious clothing. I would be moderate between this and that if possible, and that is because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Beware of me and indulgence in luxury, meaning: and exaggeration in luxury. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbids and warns the Muslim from being among those who exaggerate in luxury, because the Muslim may be exposed to some of the trial and test of poverty. If he has trained himself in some hardship of living, he can be patient with poverty, and consequently, he may be among these poor Muhajireen whom the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) described.
They are the first to ask about the man when he comes as a suitor: What is his wealth? What are his properties? What are his houses? And so on. And this, of course, is not of Islam in any way, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1084Da'if (Darussalam), so these poor people do not marry the well-off or the luxurious women, because the majority of people do not marry except the luxurious like them, except a few of the servants of Allah the Exalted. These are fewer than red sulfur, as it was said. We rarely find among the rich one who accepts to marry his daughter to a poor person from the people, even if he is righteous, and even if the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) about him is true: Sunan Ibn Majah 1967Da'if (Darussalam) So among the characteristics of these poor Muhajireen is that they do not marry the well-off women.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2444Sahih (Darussalam) The saddad means: the doors are not opened for them, meaning: they are not welcomed, they are not received, as he said (peace and blessings be upon him) in another hadith: Sahih Muslim 2622 or as the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said.
The first people to arrive at it are the poor among the Muhajirin
وأول الناس ورودًا عليه فقراء المهاجرينThe first of the people to arrive
أول الناس ورودًاThe first people to arrive at it are the poor among the Muhajirin with disheveled heads, dirty clothes, those whom the women of favor would not marry, nor would the doors be open for them.
وأول الناس ورودًا عليه فقراء المهاجرين، الشعث رؤوسًا، الدمث ثيابًا، الذين لا ينكحون المنعمات، ولا تُفتح لهم السُّددIn addition to that, they do not marry the well-off women, meaning: it is not available for them to marry women who have lived a life of comfort and ease. Perhaps a person, if he controls himself, can be moderate between these poor people with dirty clothes, because they do not find [comfort], and those rich people who expand in eating good foods, drinking beverages, and wearing luxurious clothing. I would be moderate between this and that if possible, and that is because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Beware of me and indulgence in luxury, for the servants of Allah are not the luxurious ones
إيَّاي والتنعّم فإن عباد الله ليسوا بالمتنعمينThey are the first to ask about the man when he comes as a suitor: What is his wealth? What are his properties? What are his houses? And so on. And this, of course, is not of Islam in any way, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says:
