Explanation of the Hadith: (When the night comes from this side and the day departs from that side, then the fasting person breaks his fast)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The time of Maghrib, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
When night falls from this side إذا أقبل الليل من هاهنا
Sahih al-Bukhari 1954
from the east, for example,
and the day retreats from that side (i.e., west) وأدبر النهار من ههنا
Riyad as-Salihin 1236
from the west. This is, of course, with regard to Madinah. As for other countries, the situation differs depending on the directions. For example, we in Jeddah face the east approximately when we face the Ka'bah, whereas in the Levant we face the south, and so on. Thus, all the lands around the Holy House form a circle.
So if we assume this is the south, this is the north, this is the west, and this is the east, then the one who is here faces what? He faces the southeast or the northeast, and the one who is here faces the Ka'bah just as the one in the southwest does, and so on.
The point is that as for Maghrib, his (peace and blessings be upon him) statement is explicit in this regard:
When night falls from this side إذا أقبل الليل من هاهنا
Sahih al-Bukhari 1954
pointing to the east
and the day retreats from that side (i.e., west) and the sun sets, then it is time for a person observing Saum (fasting) to break his fast. وأدبر النهار من ههنا وغربت الشمس فقد أفط الصائم
Riyad as-Salihin 1236
