Explanation of the Book of Purification-10

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And from 'Abdullah ibn Zayd ibn 'Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the description of the wudu' of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) wiped his head from the forehead to the back of his head and then back to the forehead with his (wet) hands. ومسح رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم برأسه فأقبل بيديه وأدبر
Bulugh al-Maram 35
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. The meaning of "he moved his hands forward and backward" is that he wiped with both hands together, and did not wipe with one hand, but with both hands together, moving forward and backward. Rather, he started with what is facing his body, which is the hairline, and went backward from the rear. And therefore he explained it by his saying in the other wording: "He started with the front of his head until he took them to the back of his head, then returned them to the place from which he started". And this does not contradict the hadith of 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), because this wiping is only in the manner, because the hair on the head, as you know, is directed forward from the hairline, and directed backward from the rear. So if he wipes from the hairline, he faces the undersides of the hair, and faces the upper sides of the hair with respect to the rear. Then when he returns, he faces the undersides of the hair from the rear and the upper sides of the hair from the direction of the hairline. This is the wisdom in starting with the front until he finishes with the rear, then returning.
