Explanation of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): (May Allah curse... the women who tattoo, the women who get tattooed, the women who join hair, and the women who get their hair joined).

The Shaykh : Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In my opinion, tattooing is known to you as inserting blue ink into a part of the skin. Here, one sees Satan’s manipulation of the human being in all this alteration. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, created the human being with white, simple, and beautiful skin, but he is not pleased with it, so he artificially disfigures what Allah created by inserting needles and ink into the skin. In many countries, particularly among the farmers in Syria, you find the skin’s whiteness entirely altered with this green or blue ink. Some of them even specialize in depicting a lion holding a sword. These are ignorances and darknesses, one upon another. So it was no wonder that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Why does the final phrase come?
Then he said regarding that other addition::
The woman who joins hair is, as we said, the beautician who joins her sister’s hair with the hair of another.
And the woman who gets her hair joined is the one who requests that this joining be done to her.
Also, the Messenger (peace be upon him) equated the woman who joins hair with the woman who gets her hair joined in sin, because they cooperated in altering the creation of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He.
And in my opinion, if any of these things were permissible, it would be the joining of a woman’s hair that has fallen out that is closer to being permissible than prohibited. But when this hadith came, and its reasoning in the end of the hadith:, it did not become permissible for a woman to join her hair with the hair of another, even if her hair had fallen out after it was a byword for its beauty and women adorned themselves with it. And this occurred in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):
That a woman married and the hair on her head fell out, so her mother came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) seeking his permission to join her daughter’s hair. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah curse the woman who joins hair and the woman who gets her hair joined. From this, it appears to us that it is not permissible, a fortiori, this innovation that has spread among men in many lands of Islam, let alone women, where they began using hairpieces called "wigs." There is no doubt that this usage is forbidden, a fortiori, because it is an alteration of the creation of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He. And if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) condemned tufts of hair that a Muslim woman adds to her thinning hair, making it an alteration of Allah’s creation, and even if a woman enlarges her hair or her nails by stuffing some rags into that hair so that it appears thick and abundant, the Messenger (peace be upon him) did not permit that, but he called it falsehood. And it came in *Sahih Muslim* that when Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Medina and ascended the pulpit of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and addressed the people, he said: Where are you, O people of Medina, or O scholars of Medina?—and in his hand was a bundle of cloth that women used to wrap around their hair at that time—I have heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) calling this falsehood. And in truth, it is a name that fits its description, because the woman who adopts that, or from the rags that the Messenger (peace be upon him) condemned most severely, saying: May Allah curse the women who join hair and the women who get their hair joined. Should it not be said that adopting this wig, its user is cursed, a fortiori, especially after women have specialized in buying multiple wigs, so that every day she appears with a new look on her head, sometimes with black hair, sometimes with blond hair, and sometimes with hair that has no basis in the creation of Allah, being composed of various colors, and so on. All of this and that is an alteration of the creation of Allah for what? For beauty. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah curse the women who join hair and the women who get their hair joined—and then he said—and the women who file their teeth. This type of alteration appears to have been ancient, and I do not know if this sin has been revived anew. The woman, and this is Satan’s manipulation of the children of Adam, the woman is created by Allah, the Exalted, with teeth like neatly arranged pearls, how beautiful they are! Because it is the creation of Allah, so show me what those besides Him have created. But she is not pleased with the creation of Allah. In the past, she would take a file and widen the space between the teeth until the tooth became like this, and it looked like a dog’s fang, and that is what pleased her, but the creation of Allah did not please her. So these types deserved the curse of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), whether it was done to her or by the one who did it to her, and with the reason of those who alter the creation of Allah for beauty. Therefore, I say: The plucking of eyebrows mentioned at the beginning of this hadith includes every alteration of the creation of Allah without permission from the Lawgiver. And this is with regard to the question, then. So if Allah created for a woman an arm full of hair or a leg that is hairy, it is not permissible for her to alter that, because Allah, Mighty and Majestic, did not create anything in vain. You do not see any imbalance in the creation of the Most Merciful.
