I sought my father's permission to come to the Haram, and he granted it. However, when I was about to depart, I saw that he disliked my coming and was sad about it. Is there a sin on me for causing him sadness?

The questioner : The questioner says: I sought my father's permission to come to the Haram, and he granted it. However, when I was about to depart, I saw that he disliked my coming and was sad about it. Is there a sin on me for causing him sadness?

The Shaykh : Since he granted you permission in the first instance, it is customary for a person to show signs of sadness when he intends to part from his loved ones. If your father did not want you to perform 'Umrah, he would have said to you, "I do not like for you to perform 'Umrah." What I see is that since he granted you permission in the first instance, you may continue with your 'Umrah. His sadness at the parting is a natural matter and does not indicate that he disliked your performing 'Umrah.
