The saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “Whoever prays Fajr in congregation, then sits and remembers Allah until the sun rises, then prays two rak'ahs, is recorded for him the reward of a Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : And likewise
Whoever prays Fajr in congregation and remains until the sun rises in the mosque, remembering Allah من صلى الفجر في جماعة فبقي إلى طلوع الشمس في المسجد يذكر الله
is it permissible for him to pray these two rak'ahs in his house? And likewise, is it permissible for women to sit in their homes after praying Fajr in their prayer places and thereby attain that reward?

The Shaykh : As for women, it is permissible for them. As for the man, if he desires the special virtue of the one who remains in his prayer place until the sun rises and then prays two rak'ahs, for which a complete 'Umrah is recorded, then he should remain in his place and pray those two rak'ahs.

The questioner : The hadith mentions Hajj and 'Umrah, O Shaykh, or not?

The Shaykh : Hajj and 'Umrah.
The student: Hajj and 'Umrah.

The Shaykh : Hajj and 'Umrah, yes.

The questioner : O our Shaykh, what about the one who prays in congregation while the women did not pray?

The Shaykh : Are you done from here?

The questioner : We are not done...
I am the one who asked this question.

The Shaykh : Please go ahead.

The questioner : Here it says:
Whoever prays in congregation من صلى في جماعة
and the women did not pray in congregation. Do they fall under the hadith?

The Shaykh : What is better for women, praying in the mosque or in their homes?

The questioner : There is no doubt that it is the home.

The Shaykh : Okay, so if she prays in the mosque and sits, does the ruling include her?

The questioner : This question

The Shaykh : No, this is not the question. I forgot your question. So you are taking your time. Your question, according to what the professor read here, is: if a woman is in her home and prays Fajr, does she sit and pray two rak'ahs and receive the same reward as the man who prayed in the mosque and prayed the two rak'ahs? Was that your question, or not?

The questioner : No, knowing that the hadith says:
Whoever prays in congregation من صلى في جماعة

The Shaykh : I know, my brother. This knowledge... leads to an unknown ruling. I asked you: what is better for women, praying in the mosque or praying in the home? The answer: praying in the home.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Now we develop the previous question slightly. We ask: Is a woman’s prayer in the mosque valid or not? It is valid. So if her prayer in the mosque is valid, is it valid for her to sit in her mosque, in her place of prayer, until she remembers Allah, and then when the sun rises, pray those two rak'ahs, or is that not valid for her? This is the previous question with a slight development. Is the question clear?

The questioner : Yes

The Shaykh : Okay, is the answer known to you?

The questioner : ... It is valid.

The Shaykh : Of course. So if it is valid for her, regarding her prayer in her home, her prayer in the mosque is less preferred, and her prayer in her home is more preferred. So what is valid to do in the less preferred prayer is not valid to do in the more preferred prayer? Say it, and do not be afraid: that is even more so. Is that clear?

The questioner : It is clear.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah.

The questioner : From Abu Bilal

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : Was it established through any other route?

The Shaykh : I do not recall if this addition has any other route... Al-Ash'ari is weak, but I do not recall if a corroborating narration came for it.
