The questioner : He saysThe questioner : A person is dutiful to his parents to the extent of his fear of Allah, his knowledge of his parents' rights, his seeking of Allah's pleasure, and then his winning of their satisfaction. However, the mother is not satisfied with him, on the pretext of his wife, and she is asking for more of his money, even though he helps them and his siblings to win more of their satisfaction. Despite that, they are not satisfied with him; so what should he do?

The Shaykh : In this question, it is stated that he does what he can in obeying his parents and pleasing them. Then it mentions that the mother, in particular, is asking for some of his money, but it does not say that he is doing so and giving it. Therefore, one should look into this matter. The questioner : What his mother is asking for from his money.

The questioner : She is asking for more of his money.

The Shaykh : This is it, more of his money. Is he providing more money? I want to say a comprehensive word: any request that one of the parents makes of the son, and the son is able to fulfill the request of the father or the mother, that is obligatory upon him. But if he is unable, Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.
So thisThe questioner : When he asks, and we overlook this point which he came to ask about and did not clarify his position on, which is that they are asking him, or she is asking him, for more money, what did he do? The answer did not come in the question. I say: if he is providing more money because he is able to, then he has fulfilled the obligation. But if he does not do so on the pretext that they are asking for more money, while he is able to, then he has not fulfilled the obligation. Therefore, this question, if we overlook this specific point, I have no answer. What should I tell him? I tell him a general word as it came in the Sunnah:
Fear Allah as much as possible اتقوا الله ما استطعتم
Sunan Abi Dawud 4643Sahih in chain (Al-Albani)
