The hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he wiped over his two leather socks, then removed the sock and prayed?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over his two leather socks, then removed the sock and prayed?

The Shaykh : Where is this hadith from?

The questioner : One of the brothers told us about it, meaning that you graded this hadith as good, and it is from the narration of al-Bayhaqi.

The Shaykh : I do not remember anything marfu' (traced to the Prophet) right now; what I always remember is the athar (report) of 'Ali: "That he performed wudu' (ablution) and wiped over his two sandals, then came to the mosque, removed them, and led the people in prayer as imam." This is authentic from him, but as for the marfu' hadith, I do not remember it right now.

The questioner : O Shaykh, is removing the leather sock analogous to shaving the head in ending the period and wiping?

The Shaykh : This is not an analogy (qiyas); after the arrival of the explicit text, what is the benefit of this analogy? Rather, it is an approximation; approximating one issue with another.
