The Shaykh : In the second chapter, there is another narration from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah. The chapter is titled: "Chapter on Feeding the Slave from What One Eats." The author narrated it with his authentic chain of transmission from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to advise people to treat their slaves well and would say:
Feed them from what you eat and clothe them from what you wear and do not punish Allah's creation. أطعِمُوهم مِمَّا تَأكُلُونَ ، وألبِسُوهُم مِن لَبُوسِكُم ، وَلَا تُعَذِّبوا خَلقَ اللَّهِ
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 199
.
The hadith that follows combines in meaning what was included in Jabir's first and second hadiths. It is in the second chapter after the hundredth: "Chapter on Whether One Should Sit with His Servant When Eating." He narrated it with his authentic chain of transmission from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
When one of your servants brings you food, he should sit with him. If you do not accept that, then you should give it to him. إِذَا جاءَ أحدَكُم خَادِمَه بطعامِه فليُجلِسْهُ ، فَإِن لَم يقبَلْ فليناوِلْهُ منهُ
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 200
