The Shaykh : Every misguidance is in the Fire.
The previous lesson was delivered a long time ago, and now we are resuming the lessons after this long interruption. Our lesson has reached Chapter 137, which is the author’s (may Allah have mercy on him) statement: “Chapter on Stinginess.” He narrated with his authentic chain from Abu Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The dust in the cause of Allah and the smoke of Hell will never be combined in the lungs of a slave, and the stinginess and faith can never be combined in a slave's heart.
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3110Hasan (Darussalam)
.
The student : In the belly of a servant?

The Shaykh : In the heart of a servant, forever.
The student : In the belly of a servant, forever.

The Shaykh
In the belly of a servant, the first sentence.
The second is the heart.
The dust in the cause of Allah and the smoke of Hell will never be combined in the lungs of a slave, and the stinginess and faith can never be combined in a slave's heart.
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3110Hasan (Darussalam)
This authentic hadith clarifies two matters for us. The first matter: In this hadith, He (Mighty and Majestic) revealed to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that jihad in the cause of Allah and entering Hellfire do not coexist in the heart of a Muslim. This is an allusion to the fact that jihad in the cause of Allah forbids its practitioner from entering Hellfire. Therefore, the one who fights in the cause of Allah sincerely does not enter Hellfire. Consequently, if he does not enter Hellfire, the smoke of Hellfire does not enter his belly. There is no doubt that the intended meaning of His statement here:
The dust (of Jihad) in the cause of Allah
Sunan Ibn Majah 2774Sahih (Darussalam)
is the jihad in which its practitioner is sincere to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), seeking nothing behind it but fame, love of showing off, or anything else that invalidates deeds. We all know the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):
Deeds are only by intentions, and every person will have what he intended. So, whoever’s migration—meaning his jihad—is in the cause of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), then he is in the cause of Allah. And whoever’s migration is to a worldly thing he will obtain or a woman he will marry, then his migration is to what he migrated to.
. So, whoever fights in the cause of Allah purely and sincerely from his heart, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) forbids his body from the Fire, so he does not enter Hellfire at that time, and consequently, the smoke of Hellfire does not enter his belly. Therefore, he (peace be upon him) said:
The dust in the cause of Allah and the smoke of Hell will never be combined in the lungs of a slave
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3110Hasan (Darussalam)
. This means that jihad in the cause of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) expiates all sins. This necessitates that any expiation of sins for this servant who fights in the cause of Allah requires Allah to forbid his body from the Fire. So, whoever fights in the cause of Allah, Allah forbids him from the Fire. Therefore, he said that the dust of this fighter in the cause of Allah and the smoke of Hellfire in his belly do not coexist forever.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : The reason for preventing the smoke of Hellfire from entering his belly.
