The Shaykh: From Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: A man visited a brother of his in a village, so Allah assigned an angel for him at his footpath, and he said: Where are you going? He said: To a brother of mine in this village. He said: Do you have any favor over him that you are repaying? He said: No, I love him for the sake of Allah. He said: Then I am the messenger of Allah to you, that Allah loves you as you loved him.
He said (peace be upon him): زارَ رجلٌ أخًا له في قرية A man visited a brother of his in a villageAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 350 Here, "visited" means he intended to visit, and this is a style in the Arabic language; "visited" means he intended to visit. And on this meaning, many verses and legal texts are interpreted, the most famous of which in the Qur'an is the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He): فَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ الْقُرْآنَ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ So when you recite the Qur'an, [first] seek refuge in Allah[An-Nahl 16:98] The meaning is if you intend to read, not if you have read and finished. Likewise here: زار رجل A man visited meaning: he intended to visit. And among that is the hadith of al-Bukhari that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: إذا دخل أحدكم الخلاء فليستعِذْ بالله It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'When any one of you enters Al-Khala' (the toilet), let him not touch his penis with his right hand.'"Sunan an-Nasa'i 25 If he enters, meaning: if he intends to enter, and this is common. A man visited a brother of hisAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 350 meaning he intended and began to visit a man who had a brother for him. في قرية ، فأرصد الله له ملكًا على مدرجته in a village, so Allah put an angel in wait for him on the roadAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 350 meaning: He sent a specific angel to lie in wait for the arrival of this man at his footpath, meaning: on his path. قال : أخًا لي في هذه القرية ، فقال له الملك : هل له عليك من نعمة تربُّها until he met him and said to him: Where are you going? He said: To a brother of mine in this village. The angel said to him: Does he have a blessing upon you that you are nurturing? : This means perhaps it is a man you visit because he has a favor of grace over you that you benefit from and you are repaying, meaning: you nurture, preserve, feed, and grow it. So because you know the favor of this man, you seek in your visit only for the sake of courtesy. He said: No, the matter is not as you think. I do not visit this man in this village ahead of me because he has a material, worldly favor over me, but I visit him because I love him for the sake of Allah. I am a meesenger to you from, AllahSahih Muslim 2567a meaning: That Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) sent me specifically to you to congratulate you because you intended to visit this man out of love for Allah, that Allah loves you as you loved this man whom you are about to visit. So in this hadith is the great virtue for a man who leaves his home to visit a brother of his in Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
