How is the zakah of acquired wealth, such as salaries, wages, incidental profits, and gifts, calculated?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : How is the zakah of acquired wealth, such as salaries, wages, incidental profits, and gifts, calculated? Is it added to the rest of his wealth and zakah is paid when the lunar year completes? Or is it paid when it is acquired if it reaches the nisab on its own or with what he has, without the condition of the lunar year?

The Shaykh : The scholars have two opinions on this issue. The stronger opinion in our view is that whenever he has any wealth, he adds it to the nisab he possesses. When the lunar year completes on the nisab, he pays the zakah on the nisab and what was added to it. It is not required that the lunar year complete on the wealth added to the principal capital. This is because the opinion to the contrary involves great hardship. And among the principles of Islam is:
and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ
[Al-Hajj 22:78]
. Because a man, especially if he is wealthy or a merchant, would have to record many nisabs that came to him at such and such a time, and wait for the lunar year to complete on each, and so on. The difficulty and hardship involved in that are not hidden. Therefore, the stronger opinion is the first one.
Other than that?
