The Shaykh’s (may Allah have mercy on him) admonition regarding the causes that bring devils into the home, such as images and the failure to mention Allah when entering the home

The Shaykh : After the sermon of need that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach his Companions, my speech reached the point where I said that the most deserving and most urgent thing for one who has been granted a share of knowledge to present to his brothers among the students of knowledge or the general Muslims is to remind them of some of the violations or sins that have become widespread and common among Muslims and in their homes and dwellings. It is very, very rare to hear someone remind them of this violation that has become widespread and common. I mean by this what has been mass-transmitted from the hadiths of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the prohibition of keeping images. What has been mass-transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the prohibition of keeping images, and that a house in which there is an image, let alone a house in which there are images, is a house into which the angels do not enter. It is expected that the homes of Muslims be inhabited first by believing righteous people, and second by the angels brought near, whom the Lord of the Worlds described in the Noble Qur'an: [At-Tahrim 66:6]. The house inhabited by the first group, the believing Muslims, and the second group, the angels brought near, will be a cause for driving away the devils. The devils, by the testimony of the Noble Qur'an and many authentic hadiths, are an enemy; the enmity of Satan to man is clear from the day Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commanded the angels, among whom was Iblis, the father of the jinn, to prostrate, but he refused and said: [Al-Isra 17:61]. From that day, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) expelled him from His mercy, and the outcome of his affair was that he defied the command of his Lord and vowed to be an enemy to Adam and his descendants. Therefore, this offspring must be wary of their enemy, Iblis and his host. You must know that the host of the accursed Iblis consists of two groups: a group from his own kind, that is, the jinn whom Allah (Mighty and Majestic) described in His saying: [Al-A'raf 7:27], and the other group is from among us, that is, from among humans. So the host of Iblis is from the jinn and from the humans, as He (the Exalted) said: [Al-An'am 6:112]. Accordingly, every Muslim who is zealous for his religion, his creed, and his family must adopt the means that drive Satan away from his home. Conversely, he must not adopt the means that bring Satan into his home. Among these means is what I mentioned earlier, his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Muslim 2106e. There is a connection to this hadith that I may mention later, if Allah wills, if the context of my speech requires it. But I want to say that it is well known among many of the general Muslims, let alone the specialists, that what will inhabit a place where the angels do not present themselves? The devils. Therefore, if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in clear Arabic: Sahih Muslim 2106e, this means that the one who brings an image or a dog into his home has emptied his home of the angels, that is, he has driven the angels away from his home, and at that point he has made room for the devils to enter his home. There are many lawful means that our Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) alerted us to; if the Muslim does not adopt them, he has made room for the devil to enter his home to share in his food, drink, and dwelling. Among them is what we are currently addressing: Sahih Muslim 2106e. So the devils will enter this home. This is also a very important matter and does not require much struggle, as is the case with combating images that have spread and overflowed homes today. Among those causes is what came in "Sahih Muslim" in the hadith of Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: , and the opposite is the opposite: , and before that, when he entered the home without mentioning Allah: . So there are lawful means that the Muslim must adopt to prevent the devil from entering the Muslim's home. This is my word.
The questioner: Peace be upon you.
The Shaykh: And upon you peace.
The questioner : Our Shaykh, the brothers outside are many and are waiting for you, and it is cold outside.
The Shaykh : What can we do, my brother?
The questioner : You go outside, may Allah bless you.
The Shaykh : We say, may Allah bless you. We were sitting there, so they moved us here, and now we are ready to move to another place, but by the command of the caller.
The questioner : What is the command? Leave it to me.
The Shaykh : Leave it to you, if Allah wills.
The questioner : ...
The Shaykh: Yes.
The questioner : It is colder for you outside.
The Shaykh : No problem, I do not care about the food and drink of the world. Please, brothers, please.
The questioner : As for the images, should he fold them up and put them in the house, or should he remove them from the house entirely?
The Shaykh : The answer will come to you.
The questioner : If Allah wills.
The Shaykh : In the presence of people, so that you do not monopolize the benefit.
The questioner : ... all of it, if Allah wills.
The Shaykh : ... the others will hear the answer, if Allah wills.
The questioner : May Allah bless you, our Shaykh. May you be well.
The Shaykh : Welcome.
The questioner: From Zarqa.
The Shaykh : And upon you (peace be upon him). How are you? Welcome.
